Blossoms on the grave
An old account by Nizami Aruzi says Khayyam once told a friend he wished to be buried in a place where the north wind would scatter blossoms over his grave. The present monument, designed by Hooshang Seyhoun and completed in 1963, sits in a garden, with a path that lets blossoms fall on the tomb each spring.
The monument
The mausoleum is a white structure with an opening shaped like a star to the sky, and tiles inscribed with his quatrains in calligraphy. It is a modern building in a very old place, and it suits a man who studied the stars.
