Designing Sustainable Cities

طراحی شهرهای پایدار

What Persian courtyards, qanats and gardens can teach modern planning.

Old answers to new problems

Persian cities had to manage water, heat and wind long before modern engineering. Qanats brought water without pumps, windcatchers cooled houses, and covered bazaars kept streets shaded and busy.

What the talk covers

A walk through these ideas with photographs and plans, then a discussion. It draws on Yazd, Tabriz Bazaar, and thinkers like Jane Jacobs and Ebenezer Howard.

Speak or listen

If you work in planning or architecture and would like to give the talk, say so in the Innovation Hub.
