The poet of Hamedan
Baba Taher lived in the 11th century, in the days of the Seljuk ruler Tughril. His dates are uncertain, but his short, plain quatrains, the dobeyti, are still sung with the setar today. They are written in the Hamedani dialect of the city.
The mausoleum
The modern mausoleum, designed by Mohsen Foroughi, stands in a park of flowers and winding paths near the northern entrance of Hamedan. A central tower is surrounded by twelve outer pillars. An older tomb that once marked the grave is also photographed here.
